“What is your biggest Weakness?” & Other Hellish Interview Experiences

Is there any right answer to that question? Most of the time I went with the “I take my work too seriously” or “I can’t not finish anything I start.” These miserable answers were usually accompanied by awkward “ums” by me and yawns or eye rolling by my interviewer.

The sad part is that I could prepare an answer for 6 weeks and still make the person across the table hate me. Unfortunately, their distaste for me is well overshadowed by my own self-loathing. Why you ask? Because, by letting the interview get to BS questions like this, I’ve lost my edge and control of my destiny. An interviewer needs to know something more about you than your resume or that you showed up to the interview with a uni-brow and clip-on tie. Let them know who you are and what your skills, talents, and goals are. Otherwise, you’re putting your future in the hands of a stranger based on a “if you could be any animal” hypothesis.
